Your points show how big your empire is: they grow with everything you build, research and deploy as ships and defenses. They determine your place in the ranking, your attack zone and therefore whom you may attack – and who may attack you.
Attack zones (AZ)
Depending on their points, every player belongs to an attack zone. In most universes you can attack players who are at most two attack zones above or below you – and they can attack you in the same way. In some universes, such as Sirius, a points range applies instead: the target must have between 25 % and 400 % of your points.
In universes with attack zones, the zones range from 1 (below 1,000 points) to 20 (from 5 billion); from 250 million points (zone 18) all players are within range of each other. The full table is shown on the universe page. The top 50 of the overall ranking can be attacked by everyone, no matter which zone. If you attack a top 50 player who could not reach you otherwise, they may attack you back for 14 days after the battle – the game tells you before you launch your fleet.
The colors in the galaxy show you at a glance where you stand (Galaxy map):
- Light red: within your range – you can attack them, but they can attack you too.
- Bright red: players from the top 50 or players who attacked you within the last 14 days – you may attack them, even outside your zone.
- Dark red: too strong, outside your range.
- Blue: too weak for you, or in vacation mode.
- Yellow: inactive, meaning not logged in for more than 7 days – anyone can attack them, regardless of the zone.
- White: in spectral mode and cannot be attacked.
- Green and turquoise: members of your alliance and allied partners. Purple marks the game operators.
Attack protection for newcomers
Up to 10,000 points you are protected from attacks – in return, you can only attack inactive players during this time. Use the protection period for mines, energy and research. In universes with attack zones there is additional protection for the lowest zone: players in attack zone 1 can only be attacked by players from the same zone.
Bash protection
You may attack a planet or asteroid at most three times within 24 hours – when sending your fleet, the game shows how many attacks are still possible. This limit does not apply to inactive players and is lifted during an ongoing invasion against the target's alliance. Attacks with the Particle cannon do not count.
Harassment attacks
If you attack a player whose spice value (the value of their entire account) is far below yours, it counts as a harassment attack – shown in the game as a "virulent attack". The game warns you beforehand with a red notice and tells you the threshold. A harassment attack reduces your resource stealing by 5 % for 7 days and costs you Synth points: of the up to 5 points for "harassment attacks", you lose one for every recent harassment attack (Synth points).
Speed bonus for catching up
If you are far behind the strongest players in your universe, you get a speed bonus on production as well as construction and research times. It always lasts for a limited time. If you reach the displayed number of points by then, it is extended. The speed bonus display in the game shows your factor, the remaining time and your next goal.
