Particle attack
Use the particle cannon to blast enemy defenses before your fleet arrives – and the particle shield to protect yourself against it.
The Particle cannon has just one job: destroying defenses on a foreign planet or asteroid. It does not hit ships. That makes it the key to cracking heavily defended targets for your fleet.
Charging up
The cannon fires stored particle energy. That energy comes from your planet's energy surplus and gradually fills the storage of the Particle cannon, Particle shield, Teleporter and Tunnel system. Every cannon level enlarges its storage, and each shot empties it completely.
Target and priorities
On the particle cannon page you enter the coordinates and pick up to three defense types as targets. The destructive power is split between them: priority 1 gets 46%, priority 2 gets 31% and priority 3 gets 23%. The further away the target, the less destructive power arrives – the page shows you the value in advance.
You can only fire at players you would also be allowed to attack. The beam needs some flight time and appears in your fleet movements. The victim gets an alert, and you get a report on the destroyed defenses.
Protection against particle beams
- The Particle shield absorbs incoming beams with its stored energy. If that is enough, no damage gets through. Otherwise only the remainder hits. After that the shield has to recharge.
- The particle cannon cannot hit dug-in defenses (Digging in defense).
