Colonization

More planets, more production: how to settle new worlds with a colony ship and find good locations.

Your home planet alone will not get you far. Every additional planet has its own mines, storage and building fields – and that means more resources. You settle new planets with the Colony ship and the Colonize mission.

How it works

  1. Build a Colony ship. The Tech tree shows what you need for it.
  2. Find a free position in the Galaxy map and send the colony ship there on the Colonize mission. Any resources you load come along as starting capital for the settlers.
  3. On arrival the planet is yours: one colony ship is used up, and all other ships and the cargo stay on the new colony. If the position has been taken in the meantime, the fleet returns with a message.

How many planets?

How many planets you may own depends on the universe – in many it is 11, in some more (Universes). In some universes you can buy extra planet slots. Once you hit the limit, the colony ship returns with a message. Asteroids, raid colonies and event colonies do not count.

Special colonies

  • [RK] Raid colony: The "Fleeter" specialization unlocks extra raid colonies (Specialization). They produce no resources, but serve as a forward base for attacks.
  • [EVENT] Event colony: Only available during certain events, for example as an outpost in the alien galaxy (Outposts).

Choosing the right location

  • Close to home: short flight times for transports, escape flights and helping each other out.
  • Further away or in other galaxies: new targets to farm and a foothold in another region. Later, Teleporter and Teleportation connect distant planets with no flight time at all (Teleporting fleets).
