Digging in defense

In some universes you can dig in your guns: they no longer take part in battles, but they are safe from destruction.

In the universes GeNeSIS 2527, Sirius and Infinity you can dig in the defense of a planet. You find the switch in the defense view: the defense status shows whether your installations are up and ready or dug in.

What happens when you dig in?

  • Guns that are dug in do not take part in battles. Attackers then only face your fleet – so without ships your planet is unprotected.
  • In return, they cannot be destroyed: neither by fleets (not even by the stealth bombers' first strike) nor by the Particle cannon.
  • Shield domes do not dig in. They always stay active and can still be hit.
  • While your defense is dug in or digging, you cannot build new guns.

Duration and requirements

Digging in or out takes one hour. The Tunnel system speeds it up: each level saves one minute, so at level 40 only 20 minutes are left. While digging, the old state still applies – if your defense is digging in, it still fights. If it is digging out, it is still protected.

You can only dig in if there is at least one gun on the planet and no guns are currently being built. Asteroids do not have this feature.

Particle fog

From level 40 the Tunnel system gets its own particle accumulator, which fills up with surplus energy just like those of the Particle cannon and the Particle shield. Once it is full, you can activate the particle fog in the buildings menu. After a short activation time it protects your defense from attacks for 24 hours: during that time your guns stay out of battles and cannot be destroyed in them.

Activating it empties the accumulator. After that there is a cooldown – the tunnel system shows you when you can use the fog again. While the fog is active, you cannot build guns.
