Recycler

The garbage collector of space: only the recycler can harvest debris fields and turn battle wreckage back into resources.

When ships or defenses are destroyed, a debris field with part of their metal and kryptonite is left behind. Only recyclers can collect this debris – send them to the debris field with the Recycle mission.

Each recycler carries 25,000 units. Work out how many you need before you launch: whatever doesn't fit into your recyclers stays behind – and can be picked up by others.

Tips

Send recyclers right after a big battle – large debris fields attract other players.
Recyclers are slow. Launch them so they arrive shortly after the battle.
You can recycle your own losses too: after a lost battle, this gets back part of the costs.
Big battles can also create an asteroid – the chance is shown in the battle report.

Background

Rubble fields form when ships or defense installations are blown to pieces and the destroyed pieces of rubble float out into space. Recyclers can travel over long distances using little fuel -- but only with diffusion engines!
