The Phoenix combines high speed with a strong shield. It is almost as fast as the small fighter, which makes it the fastest of the heavy combat ships.

Strengths and weaknesses

• + Strong shield: it shines against lots of small guns like the Mortar or the Light graviton cannon.
• + High speed – great for attacks where timing matters.
• – Expensive, especially in spice.
• – Against heavy guns like the Laser cannon battery or the Solar cannon even its shield only helps so much.

The Phoenix is a popular core ship for attacks on well-defended planets, because it can take a lot and still arrives quickly. It also does a good job as a defensive fleet.
