Cuts the build time of all other buildings on this planet – the key accelerator for a fast-growing empire.
The column “Build time of other buildings” shows how much of the normal build time remains at that level. The first levels bring huge jumps – level 1 alone halves every build time. Later the gain per level gets smaller, but on builds that take days it still saves many hours.
The Development center only works on the planet or asteroid it stands on – every colony needs its own. It also unlocks key buildings: the Research lab at level 2, the Weapons factory at level 3, the Galaxy scanner at level 8 and the Microsystem accelerator at level 12.
Build it early and regularly: levels 2 and 3 as soon as possible, then whenever your next mine levels start taking noticeably long. It costs metal, kryptonite and spice and gets considerably more expensive with every level. In live universes the highest development centers are around level 50.
From level 12 you can instantly finish the running construction job with Urplasma in many universes, once it has been running for a while – the price depends on the remaining time. This is also when the Microsystem accelerator comes into play, halving build times again with every level.
Background
The development center is responsible for building and mine research. It conducts research in the field of constructional engineering to reduce construction times for each level completed. Once level 12 has been reached, the microsystem accelerator can also be used to cut construction times in half for each level.
